Born to Handle
what others can't

We design patented robotic grippers and lifting systems for extreme environments where conventional tooling cannot operate, from nuclear decommissioning and radioactive material handling to ultra-high-temperature manufacturing.

our mission

GraphiCore is an Italian deep-tech company developing robotic grippers and lifting systems for extreme industrial environments.

Founded by three nuclear engineers from Politecnico di Milano, GraphiCore develops patented handling technologies for applications where conventional tooling cannot safely or reliably operate, including nuclear decommissioning, radioactive material handling and ultra-high-temperature manufacturing.

01 — The Origins

Born from Research at Politecnico di Milano

GraphiCore was born from research at Politecnico di Milano. Our team contributed to Inno4Graph, a European Horizon 2020 project focused on nuclear dismantling.

The challenges identified through this work laid the foundation for our first patented handling technology. The challenges identified during the project led to the development of GraphiCore’s first patented robotic handling technology.

02 — The Challenge

Retrieving Irradiated Graphite Safely and at Scale

Retrieving irradiated graphite blocks is a complex challenge in nuclear decommissioning. Damaged, obstructed or degraded blocks can be difficult to access and remove using conventional handling approaches.

GraphiCore develops robotic handling technologies designed to improve the safety, reliability and scalability of graphite retrieval in challenging decommissioning environments.

Three Nuclear Engineers, One Deep-Tech Company

That challenge became the foundation of GraphiCore, founded to transform research into an industrial technology, developing advanced handling systems for nuclear decommissioning and other extreme environments.

04 — Beyond Nuclear

From a specialized solution to a broader platform

GraphiCore’s first technology was developed for nuclear decommissioning.

Today, the same expertise in materials, vacuum systems and robotic handling is being developed into a broader technology platform for extreme industrial applications, including high-temperature manufacturing and the handling of delicate or difficult-to-access components.
